HEALTH BENEFITS OF PALMOIL

Indian diets contain enormous amounts of oil. So wouldn't it be wonderful if we find an oil that's actually good for you and takes care of your health? Well there is, and its called Malaysian Palm Oil.

 The nutrition-packed vegetable oil

A member of the vegetable oil family, palm oil is cholesterol free and it supplies our bodies with some basic daily energy needs.

As palm oil is solid at room temperature, there is no need to use hydrogenation, a technique that hardens liquid oil but also produces damaging trans fatty acids and raises cholesterol levels in the process. It is a good replacement for partially hydrogenated oils for many reasons.

Why palm oil is better for health

Palm oil is trans fat free.

Palm oil provides the same "hard or solid" fat that is required for pastries, cookies,    crackers and other items that require long shelf stability and a particular mouth feel or    texture. Other oils usually require special processing to achieve this.

Palm oil is odorless and tasteless, perfect for consumers and manufacturers alike
looking for a versatile base that addresses a range of cooking and baking needs.

Palm oil is rich in antioxidants and it can protect against several medical conditions    associated with ageing.

Animal studies have found that tocotrienols may have the ability to reverse blockage of the    carotid artery and platelet aggregation thereby reducing the risk of stroke, arteriosclerosis    and other heart disease problems.

Such studies have also found that tocotrienols may exhibit activity against
   tumor promotion.

Cellular and animal studies have found that tocotrienols may inhibit certain types of cancer.

Palm oil increases 'good' HDL, compared to other saturated oils, such as coconut oil.

Palm oil is extracted from the fruit of the oil palm tree and has approximately 35 percent less    saturated fat compared to coconut oil, also grown in tropical regions. Further, palm oil is a    nutrient rich oil containing many antioxidants including beta-carotene, a precursor of Vitamin    A and tocotrienols, a potent form of Vitamin E.

Palm oil products are trans-fat free

Palm oil contains a variety of fats, vitamins and nutrients, but absolutely none of the trans-fatty acids found pre-dominantly in hydrogenated oils. Several recent studies have implicated trans-fatty acids in increasing the risk of cancer, interfering with fat metabolism, enhancing fatty deposits in the arteries, and reducing the body's ability to rid itself of carcinogens, drugs and other toxins.

Palm oil is made up of a mixture of fatty acids and contains valuable vitamins and nutrition that our bodies need. Human studies have shown that a palm oil-enriched diet does not raise blood cholesterol, and may even lead to lower plasma cholesterol (the HDL level of cholesterol most commonly linked to heart disease). The majority of palm oil's use in foods - in the baking of cookies and crackers, for example- is in a non-hydrogenated form.

Palm oil. A perennial source of goodness!

Considering its positive characteristics its positive and wide-ranging benefits, it is hardly surprising that palm oil has progressively gained popularity the world over. Today, Malaysia's palm oil is the world's most productive oil-yielding crop, and the country is the word's leading producer of palm oil.
