 ABOUT MPOC

The Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC)was set up in 1990 with the objective of making Malaysian Palm Oil the leading vegetable oil in the world. MPOC’s mission is to promote the market expansion of Malaysian palm oil and its products by enhancing the image of palm oil and creating better acceptance of palm oil through awareness of various technological and economic advantages (techno-economic advantages) and environmental sustainability.

Oil Palm was first introduced to Malaysia (then known as Malaya) as an ornamental plant by the British in the 1870s but it was only in 1917 that the first commercial planting was done. What followed dramatically re-shaped the global vegetable oils map. Today, Malaysia is the world's largest exporter of palm oil.
